Three Coffee Fruit Patents Issued to FutureCeuticals, Inc.

Momence, IL - FutureCeuticals today announced the issuance of three United States patents covering the production of products from whole coffee fruit or portions thereof, including coffee fruit powders, extracts, and concentrates. The patents also cover use of coffee fruit products as ingredients in food and beverage and dietary supplement products.

The patents (US #8,597,710; US #8,603,563; and US #8,603,564) extend the companies’ global stable of intellectual property covering the processing and safe use of the coffee fruit, heretofore a waste product of coffee bean harvesting.

“Because the fruit of the coffee plant (coffee cherries) tends to rapidly spoil following harvest, it had historically been overlooked for food and beverage applications as unfit for human consumption,” said John Hunter, Executive Vice President of FutureCeuticals.
